I’ve been running, off and on, for about a month or so. I’ve got a running partner who lags a little behind my natural pace, which is fine because just the act of having to go to his house is what I need for motivation to get out of bed.

Now my running partner is taking a hiatus and I need to keep running. I’m hovering way, WAY too near to 250 lbs. Since I’m 6’4″, it’s not quite as bad as it sounds, but still, I think I’d be healthier if I dropped a few dozen pounds.

Matt Haughey’s new fitlog is pretty inspirational. I think I’d like to try something similar. I especially like the graphing bit. Maybe…

Last time I ran regularly, the pounds really dropped off. I didn’t change my eating habits at all, just my level of activity. That’s my sole consolation at this point. I read a nice article in this month’s Worthwhile magazine about a runner whose motto is that she “runs for donuts.” That sounds about like me.

I’m sitting in my office, after hours, waiting for an audiobook to transfer to my Palm. I’m on my way to Smith Rocks to go climbing for the weekend with Ron’s GFU climbing class. Looks like it’s snowing on the pass AND and Smith. Not sure how long we’ll stick around…

Geez, I’ve been neglecting this thing.

Tru’s grandparents (Amy’s folks) have been in town. They brought Rosie-the-dog and she and our cats have reached an uneasy truce. Truman is totally digging Rosie, though. Pappy (Grandpa Tom) got a great picture of Rosie and Tru at the top of the stairs, each with a ball in the mouth. Also, Tru figured out how to get Rosie to pull him around on his scooter. Nice. 🙂

Tru’s really been having fun with the company. Grammy and Pappy took him camping in their motor home, out at Champoeg (say: shampOOee) State Park. Tomorrow is my Friday and we’re going to the beach for a long weekend. Surf should be acceptable, don’t know what the weather will do, though.

Looks like Fark.com picked up one of my postings on Slacker Manager. The stats are through the roof today. Other sites are linking too…saw that Metafilter picked it up and lots of blogs are linking. Pretty fun, pretty weird.

My pal Darryl is the art director for a new magazine called Geez. Also of note, one of the founders of Geez has an article in the current online edition of Sojourners…

We talked about Geez last Sunday at our small group. I think if you appreciate adbusters, buy nothing day and buy nothing christmas, you’ll probably dig Geez.

This has been all over since last week, but I figured I’d drop a note here just in case you hadn’t seen these clips. First, there’s a new Volkswagen video clip that’s making the rounds.
