Sick kid

Yeah, Tru’s sick. He’s been popping out about 4-5 new teeth all at the same time, plus we’re pretty sure he has a cold. He’s running about a 101&deg temperature and he’s not as active as usual. Kinda whiny too… But we still love him!

I slapped a few (just a few) new pics on the album and moved the other stuff into the archive.

Catching up

Nothing special to write today, just catching up a bit. Tru spent a few hours yesterday with Grandpa Jim and Grandma Liz while Amy and I went to a movie and dinner. The movie was really good, by the way–My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Tru did great while we were gone. He played, ate and pooped, just like at home. I think the grandparents had fun too…

Daycare

Wow, Amy finally posted an entry! Tru does start daycare tomorrow, though it’s pretty low impact at first. He’ll be with my mom or sister every day next week. After that he’ll be with one or the other of them for two days a week and the other three days he’ll share an El Salvadoran nanny with the three kids across the street. Lydia has been a nanny to the neighbor kids for a couple of years now and she’s pretty cool. She also already knows Tru, and he kind of knows her. Anyway, we’re feeling pretty good about it all. He’ll only be in daycare for about 5 hours a day–not too bad, considering he’ll probably be napping for three of those hours!

Last day of summer

We knew this day would come… our family is finally transitioning into a working family. Bren starts tomorrow at Fox, I go back to my middle school crew, and Tru segues into daycare. After a laid back, kick back, backpack summer, I think this will be a shock to all our systems

P.S. Tru is really cute. Maybe he could revive A Flock of Seagulls.

Mohawks in history

We went to visit with Grandpa Gordon last week. We weren’t able to stay long since he had to go to his art class. But Grandpa enjoyed seeing Tru’s ‘hawk and he told us that way back in the day, he (Grandpa) paid his little brother 10¢ to let Grandpa shave his hair into a mohawk and then go downtown and buy a sucker. Grandpa was laughing as he remembered the story. When I asked if his brother was embarassed to go downtown with his mohawk, Grandpa laughed and said, “Aw, he didn’t care!” Grandpa also reminded me that my dad had a ‘hawk when he was a kid too. So Tru’s got plenty of precedent–the ‘hawk was nearly inevitable!

Coming soon…

Heh heh heh. Tomorrow is our final post-adoption social worker visit! You know what that means…Tru’s got a haircut coming up!

New pics

I finally got around to prepping all the pictures I’ve been sitting on… There’s stuff from Amy’s folks’ visit, Tru’s birthday, the beach, various relatives and the Chinese Garden… Enjoy.

Tru’s picking up some new ways to communicate. He’s got signs for “more please”, “all done”, hello/good-bye and he blows kisses. We’re working on “thank you”. He still knows how to throw a fit, though, when none of the above apply…
