Travel schedule

We know our travel schedule now…we’re flying out of PDX on Sunday (tomorrow!) around 5pm. Amy’s mom arrives a few hours before we leave, so we’ll just be tossing her the car keys and Truman and flying away.

We’ll be returning to PDX on Thursday, May 26 at 8:32 pm on Asiana Airlines flight #6220, if you care to come out to welcome Asher home. That’s not a plea to fill the airport, just an FYI since I’m sure people will be asking.

We’re taking a camera and a laptop to Korea, so we’re really hoping to upload pics while we’re there. Keep an eye on this page (rss) for Asher pictures, or on my main Flickr page (rss) for general pics of Korea, etc.

As always, your prayers are welcomed. Now also accepting good thoughts, karma transfers and general senses of well-being. 🙂

Leaving on a jet plane

Today we got the call that we’re cleared to travel to Korea to pick up Myung Hee. We figure we’ll leave early next week and be back the end of the week. Yay!

I’ll write more as I find out our final travel schedule.

New pics

Amy chastised me for not putting up a post about new pics. So, there are some. You can go here to see everything I posted yesterday.

I added pics to a couple of categories: the Truman category and a new kidswithcameras category. I’ll be using the kidswithcameras category for pictures that Truman took.

Also, there’s a little graphic thingy down in the bottom left corner of this page. It gets updated whenever there are new photos.

Frodo!

We got a dog. His name is Frodo. He’s four years old. He looks like a full-on Border Collie, but he’s actually a Border Collie/Australian Shepherd/English Springer Spaniel mix. He’s a pretty laid back dude and I think he’ll fit in well at our house.

A former work colleague of mine was giving him away because they’ve got two dogs and one baby and it was getting tough to spread the love around. So we get to spread some love to Frodo. Not right now, but in a couple of weeks. We went to visit him today and we all love him, but we’ve gotta get the house dog-ready. That means putting in a couple of sections of fence in the back yard (even though he’ll be primarily an indoor dog).

Anyway, we’re pretty stoked. Here’s a picture of Frodo:

100 waffles

Truman just told me that God can eat 100 waffles without throwing up.

We had this conversation because I’d eaten two waffles and he was checking into how many I could possibly eat. He asked if I could eat eight waffles and I told him that if I ate eight waffles, I’d probably throw up. That’s when I was informed that God has no such limits.

Running log

I’ve been running, off and on, for about a month or so. I’ve got a running partner who lags a little behind my natural pace, which is fine because just the act of having to go to his house is what I need for motivation to get out of bed.

Now my running partner is taking a hiatus and I need to keep running. I’m hovering way, WAY too near to 250 lbs. Since I’m 6’4″, it’s not quite as bad as it sounds, but still, I think I’d be healthier if I dropped a few dozen pounds.

Matt Haughey’s new fitlog is pretty inspirational. I think I’d like to try something similar. I especially like the graphing bit. Maybe…

Last time I ran regularly, the pounds really dropped off. I didn’t change my eating habits at all, just my level of activity. That’s my sole consolation at this point. I read a nice article in this month’s Worthwhile magazine about a runner whose motto is that she “runs for donuts.” That sounds about like me.

Bored

I’m sitting in my office, after hours, waiting for an audiobook to transfer to my Palm. I’m on my way to Smith Rocks to go climbing for the weekend with Ron’s GFU climbing class. Looks like it’s snowing on the pass AND and Smith. Not sure how long we’ll stick around…

Looks like the transfer is done…wish me warmth!
