I had a really great Father’s Day weekend. Grammy & Pappy had the boys for a few days, then Amy and I went down to meet up with everyone on Friday. Had a really nice surf on Saturday morning, which set the right tone for the rest of the weekend for me. It’d been about a year since I’d paddled out, and I didn’t realize how much I missed it. I love surfing.
We cruised home on Saturday, via Hawk Creek Cafe, and spend the day hanging around the house. On Sunday we had a lazy morning, then went to church for a bit, though I stayed outside and watched the clouds. “Normal” church kinda pales in comparison to “real” church (surfing). The boys got me a subscription to The Surfer’s Journal, which is a fantastic publication. I subscribed for a couple of years a while back, but regretfully let it lapse. I’ll be glad to see it show up at the house again. Asher made me a rad little picture frame at school. He made the wrapping paper and the card, too. He actually gave me the whole package several weeks ago, but I only opened it today. Truman hooked me up with a couple of Milky Way Dark’s. That kid knows what I like. 😉
As is our Sunday custom, we had a nice lunch with Grammy and Pappy (steak!), then the boys hung out with them while Amy and I went shopping. We got back, got the boys, and started setting up for a little gathering at our house in the evening. The Hampton family came over and so did Grampa Jim and Gramma Liz. We had a great time visiting and eating ice cream, while the kids got crazy all around us. Tru and Benny were soaked from water balloons…
What a great weekend, and what an awesome family. I’m a lucky, lucky dad.
