We got a dog. His name is Frodo. He’s four years old. He looks like a full-on Border Collie, but he’s actually a Border Collie/Australian Shepherd/English Springer Spaniel mix. He’s a pretty laid back dude and I think he’ll fit in well at our house.
A former work colleague of mine was giving him away because they’ve got two dogs and one baby and it was getting tough to spread the love around. So we get to spread some love to Frodo. Not right now, but in a couple of weeks. We went to visit him today and we all love him, but we’ve gotta get the house dog-ready. That means putting in a couple of sections of fence in the back yard (even though he’ll be primarily an indoor dog).
Anyway, we’re pretty stoked. Here’s a picture of Frodo:
Well, he has hairy feet so the name fits. What are Ernie’s and Leo’s opinions on the matter?
Well, we’ll see what the other boys think in a couple of weeks when Frodo comes home… 🙂
Actually, Frodo lives with a cat now, so he’s cool with it. And Ernie and Leo were pretty cool when Amy’s parent’s dog, Rosie (a real Border Collie), stayed with us for a while.
I’m not expecting any trouble…
We have a full Australian Shepherd named Maverick. These dogs are very intelligent. You might want to keep this in mind, because they will bore easily, and can turn to destructive behaviors to fill their time like chewing, chewing and chewing. If you can overcome that, you’ll enjoy Frodo for many years. The best thing we taught Maverick, is to ring a bell when he needs to go outside. Give it a shot!

I love the ‘ring a bell’ idea, thanks Bubba!
Beautiful dog! Frodo suggests an intensely loyal dog, able to go on adventures, but probably content to enjoy evenings getting his ears scratched and eating as many snacks as he can get away with. I see many a fun filled beach adventure with frisbees and wave chasing! Enjoy.
